HERE IN THE WOODS

© Lady Bridget 1994

I sit alone and listen to the song
Of the crickets as they sing in the grass
Dark night has come and the stars brightly shine
'Tween the clouds as the leaves gently sway.

Here in the woods, peace all around
You can find your soul in the sounds
The elixir of life, cauldron and the knife
Both are here to be found in the woods.

Why do you cling to the asphalt poisoning
Noise and stench and the cars everywhere?
Steel towers of grey where the people feel like prey
You have stripped my beloved Mother bare.

Just close your eyes, see darkling skies
Lift up your soul to the stars
Into the night, let your mind take flight
Maybe then you can be who you are

Live with the trees, fairy entities,
Feel the calmness that carries within
Let it set you free from this sorry travesty
Now's the time, go outside, and begin.

Here in the woods, peace all around
You can find your soul in the sound.
The creation of life, cauldron and the knife
Both are here, very near, in the woods.
